You will build on this foundation as you progress through your apprenticeship program and have exposure to the global business from day one, allowing you to make an impact as soon as you are ready.

Multi-Strategy Group

We employ a multi-strategy investment approach by allocating capital to a wide range of investment and arbitrage strategies across asset classes. This is commonly known as discretionary trading: taking a certain position in the market based on market conditions and trading experience. It requires excellent data-analysis and a good feel for the markets. We have a global team of specialist portfolio managers and analysts striving to be the best in class, working out of Hong Kong, London and New York.

This type of trading isn’t a natural starting point for our Emerging Talent Programs, although we do offer some intern rotations across these desks.

Our top tips

Application Review

There are great CV templates available online – if using one, make sure you choose one that is concise and well organised, with sensible formatting. Try not to overcrowd the page. You want to ensure you’re making it easy for the reviewer to find your relevant skills and experience.

Proofread your CV – make sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors.

When listing your work experience and education history, list these in reverse chronological order, with the most recent experience at the top. When listing qualifications, make sure you include the grade you achieved.

Remember, this is your first opportunity to showcase your skills and achievements so keep it relevant and punchy and stick to a maximum of 2 pages of information.

Online Assessments

On-demand video interview:

Make sure to check your camera and microphone are working before you start.

Complete the interview in a quiet location where you are unlikely to be disturbed.

Make sure you use all of the preparation time given for each question – feel free to make notes if you need to!

Long-form numerical assessment:

Try not to let the time constraints for each question faze you – work through each question methodically and calmly.

Make sure you are in a quiet space where you are not likely to be disturbed.

Coding Assessment:

Challenges are timed, make sure you are focused and not disturbed.

Understand the allowed programming languages for the test. If your language of choice is not available, practice another one.

Submit at least something for every problem. It’s easy to capture some points even if you do not know how to solve the problem. However, if you don’t know how to solve all the problems, try to figure out at least one.

Practice first as much as you can. You should try doing some coding exercises online. We recommend using Edabit to do this – you are able to choose the language and difficulty level.

Face to face interview

Research Maven. Check out our social media, Linkedin blogs and network!

Prepare questions to ask in your interview – this is a great opportunity for you to find out as much information about us as possible.

Practice makes perfect! Practice your questions and answers thoroughly before your interview – go through them with either a friend, family member or education contact to get some feedback ahead of your interview.

Plan out your pre-interview travel ahead of the day.

Assessment Day

Be assertive during all exercises.

Try not to dwell on any mistakes, instead concentrate on performing well in the next task.

Try not to worry about the other candidates, instead focus on putting your key skills forward.

Draw others into group discussions, get involved!

Ensure that you understand the requirements of each task – ask questions if you are unsure!

Tintagel have chosen academically talented individuals whose financial situation, gender, or ethnicity presents barriers to them reaching their full potential, enabling them to have aspirations beyond their current boundaries. The children are all based in schools which are in areas that are banded in the highest 2% in terms of deprivation, with many of the schools having a high population of children who are refugees or on free school meals.
